Another Proposed new subdivision on Campground!

zoning signAs many of you are aware, the land across from and south of Calamar is being requested to be rezoned to RES3 from Agricultural. The proposed plan has 177 new homes on approximately 1/4 acre lots. This means more traffic on Campground Rd., Highway 9, Dickerson, and Post.

There is a public meeting on September 17th at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at Vickery Creek Middle in the lunch room.  Please plan to attend.

    Thank you Forsyth County Commissioners! I have counted at least 8 new subdivisions under construction within a five mile radius of the Midway area. Probably 1,500 homes or more with 2,000+ cars daily. There are other new homes proposed. Currently highway 9 traffic at peak times is frustrating. In another 12 months highway 9 will be gridlocked at times. A moratorium on new home permits would help but for The County it’s tax revenue. GDOT has proposed widening of highway 9 from the Fulton County line north to highway 141 but if approved it may take two years for completion.

    According to Todd Levent, the developer of this subdivision purchased another 50 acres adjacent to this subdivision. He also told me that he will not vote for RES 3 for this property but instead will push for RES 2. However, with the additional 50 acres, even if the density changes, the number of homes and the resulting traffic will not.
